For this reason, unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last 20 years, you most likely know very well who Chris Evans is.

It is no wonder you most likely know who he is since the superhero movies as so “big” nowadays that it is near to impossible to avoid them. Anyway, in the article that we are going to talk about, we are going to try and answer the question: does Chris Evans use steroids for Captain America or he managed to reach the body of a real captain all naturally?

So, while we do not know for sure, we are going to try and do our very best in order to find it out and give a close answer.

Legal Disclaimer

Before we can continue with this article any further, we need to get the legal stuff out of the way. We are in absolutely no way affiliated with Chris Evans or any close person to him, and we are most likely never will be. We are having absolutely no 100% proof that might suggest Chris is actually taking steroids or not as we don’t have absolutely no personal information of him and we don’t have his medical history. All the information used in writing of this article is absolutely all public information and photos. This is why, all the content that you are about to read here is based on pure speculation on our parts with a bit of knowledge on steroids and their effects. That’s why, this article shouldn’t be taken literally and it is not a 100% conclusive verdict.

In the end, we don’t know if Chris Evans has ever used steroids, for Captain America or otherwise, and we never will find it out, unless he is going to provide a real proof of this, which we think that is very unlikely. However, since we have a bit of knowledge on steroids and their effects, what we are going to be doing it is to look at Chris’ body and what we know about steroids and we would try to determine whether we think he may have used some juice in the past for his roles or not. and then again, although we do believe that our verdict is very close to reality, there’s still chance we might be wrong.

Who is Chris Evans?

Chris Evans is a Hollywood big star and actor, he is mostly known as an action superhero star because he’s best known for his role as “The First Avenger” Captain America. Ironically, Chris has actually played another superhero in the same Universe – Marvel, back in 2005 and in 2007 when he was playing the “Human Torch” in the Fantastic 4 movie and its sequel. Nonetheless, it is not the first time when the same actor played 2 different characters in the same universe. For all of this, Chris is currently a superstar and he has an amazing physique many guys would envy.

Chris is having a height of 6 ft tall and he is weighing around 200 to 2005 pounds with low body fat percentage. These are similar stats to Zac Efron body size. However, if you did saw him on camera, you would very quickly understand why people have accused him of using anabolic steroids in the past, and especially for Captain America.

Chris Evans has started his career of actor back in 2000, where he has appeared on a TV series that is entitled Opposite Sex. But there are many other movie credits that can be attributed to his name such as: Not Another Teen Movie; Sunshine; Scott Pilgrim vs The World; Gifted and a lot of other movies. He has also been on the other side of the camera as well, that’s because back in 2014, he was directing Before We Go, which he has also starred in. Plus, not so long ago he has branched out into a stage performance as he has made his Broadway debut a few months ago in 2018, in the Lobby Hero.

However, Chris is soon going to appear back on the screen in another of the Avengers movie franchise: Avengers Endgame which is predicted to be one of the most waited movie of 2019, and that’s a movie that the fans surely wouldn’t want to miss.

Early life

Chris Evans is currently 37 years old as he has been born back on June 13, 1981 in the state of Massachusetts, United States. Although he is having a relatively young age, he has been a professional actor for almost 2 decades now which means that more than half of his life he has dedicated to acting. Generally, Chris had a fairly happy upbringing. He is having some pretty mixed genes, to say the least, and that’s because of his father who is half British and half German while his mother is half Irish and half Italian. Plus, he has had a fairly religious upbringing too and that’s because he and his siblings were all raised as Catholic.

Even though he has made his big screen debut in 2000 where he started to be recognized, his first credited appearance has been much earlier – 3 years earlier in 1997, where he has appeared in an educational video.

Marvel Universe

As I earlier said, Chris Evans has started his acting career more than 2 decades ago and for this reason, he already managed to appear in a lot of TV shows and movies and for this reason, it would take us way too much time in order to cover them all. However, we are going to be focusing on what brought Chris Evans the most fans (and what brought him accusations of taking steroids) – Chris’ appearances in the Marvel Universe.

This article is mostly going to be based on the question if Chris Evans is using steroids for playing Captain America; however as I earlier said, he has appeared as “Human Torch” in another Marvel movie and that’s why, before we would start researching about his appearance as Captain; we firstly need to check him and his appearance in the Fantastic 4 movies.

Chris has got the role of the Human Torch, which is a superhero with pyrotechnical superpowers where he is able to control and initiate fire. In that movie, Chris, already being the female’s heartthrob, did appeared shirtless quite a few times and an example of that is the photo above.

I have carefully analyzed more photos than that and from looking at his physique form back then, you would know that he definitely wasn’t a lazy actor who simply read their text. He spent a lot of his time in the gym and it does looks like as if he takes his training and dieting very seriously. And although he was already looking very good, only around 6 years later, when he firstly played Captain America in his life, the fans were already amazed at how huge of a transformation he has had. Because he transformed from a really good looking guy to a really big and good looking guy. But we are going to return back to this soon.

So, if you are not familiar with this character he played, the superhero is undergoing some general superhero processes (real technical, we do understand it) in order to give him his superhero powers. I have already mentioned it earlier in the beginning of my review. The captain, initially, has been a very small and weedy kid that very often used to get bullied because of his very small size. Nonetheless – he never gave up. Then later, after he undergoes some kind of superhero wizardry, he is going out as a completely new man – a jacked up dude who you wouldn’t dare bullying. The Captain is famous in Avengers movies, but he did appear in a series of stand alone movies, tie-in movies, but also Avengers movies too.

Has Chris Used Steroids to Get in Shape for Captain America?

I managed to find information that Chris has played this character since 2011 and as much as it seems, during all this time, he has stayed in fantastic shape, in the same shape as he used to be back when he firstly played Cap in 2011. Nonetheless, before 2011 he wasn’t looking as good and for this reason (plus the fact that he manages to stay in the same shape for all these years), has made a lot of people to ask questions whether his gains have been all natural, or they have been the result of taking anabolic steroids.

And even though we don’t know for sure whether Chris has, or ever will, use anabolic steroids, we can still take a look at whether he has any signs that he might have used juice in order to get as big and jacked. That’s why, we are going to try to find it out, and below we would share some evidences which might indicate both for, and against, potential steroid use of Chris’ part.

Chris Evans in Fantastic 4 as Human Torch

As it was earlier mentioned, back in the time when Chris used to play only a modest superhero, compared to one of the most important characters in Avengers, Chris used to play the Human Torch. When he played this role, he had to be shirtless quite a few times in this movie and that’s why it is easier for us to determine how much he changed since then in order to look the way he does nowadays.

When he was playing Johnny Storm which is also known as the Human Torch, you can notice that Chris used to be pretty much in a similar size to how he looked when he started playing Captain America. Even though he used to be similar in size, his body fat was still looking quite a little bit lower and plus to that, he was carrying some less muscle mass either (for human torch). It is believed that he has been around 185 lbs for this movie, with a body fat of approximately 8 % or so.

With this being said, we can mention that at 6 ft tall, to get to 185 lbs all naturally is definitely very achievable, however, in the same time we know that there are steroid users that can have the exact same stats as well, this is the reason why his stats and condition is neither a proof of steroid use, nor a proof that he is being natural. That’s the reason we need to keep digging further.

He is Made in Order to Look Bigger

So well, Chris Evans playing Captain America is a really jacked up dude. It is obvious since an actor playing Captain America, one of the strongest superheroes, should be a really jacked up dude. He is over 200 pounds and that weight is all only muscle. That’s huge. Nonetheless, even so, if you are going to put Chris next to a bodybuilder that is only 20 pounds or so with more muscles, then Chris is going to look pretty much average. In order to start with, they are saying that the camera is adding approximately 10 pounds and you know… that’s pretty much true.

That’s something like optical illusion which is often doing “magic”. Basically, because of the angles, lighting as well as a bit of Hollywood wizardry, if you are getting photographed or filmed, then you do tend to look bigger and heavier than you actually are, especially if that’s supposed to. Chris is a jacked dude, nobody denies, however he is also made to look quite a bit bigger on screen in a number of different ways. The first thing to start with is his suit which is so tight on him that we are wondering how he managed to walk in him and how his blood circulation is still working while being in it.

Other magic is that very often he is being filmed shirtless or is wearing some very tight compression clothing and this, automatically is making people much more bigger and heavier as well. So that’s how he manages to stay much more impressive than he actually is. Like for example, if he was wearing a baggy 3XL sweatshirt instead of an L under armor T shirt then we are quite sure that his physique would have much less to offer to the camera.

Please, just don’t get us wrong as we are not trying to take away from his physique and say that he is average. Indeed he is big and jacked, a lot of people would like to be like him, however, they are trying to make him look even bigger, that’s because generally, he is not looking as big as he is looking on the screen.

He didn’t had any dramatic transformation

Getting through a dramatic transformation, especially in a short period of time, is a huge sign which might indicate that he might be using steroids, but Chris Evans didn’t went through any dramatic transformations. At least, not as big as he did as Captain America in the movie. In the beginning, it was obvious that his character was CGI’d to impossible. What I am trying to say, it is obvious that Chris was not looking as Captain America in the movie before he became Captain. They deliberately make him look a lot much shorter and borderline anorexic, and to be honest, it is over the top and does look quite a bit laughable, to be honest. He is extremely short, and extremely small.

However, as soon as he is getting his powers, he is emerging several inches tall and he is a lot much more pounds heavier – all in muscles. You can take a look at the video below to get a better idea of what I am talking about:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQx1_YDYiB0

So well, this guy is now big and really jacked and that’s why he looks amazing. Nonetheless, that’s in the movie because in the real world, his physique didn’t changed exactly as dramatically as it was shown in the movie. That’s because, for example, back in the time when he was playing Fantastic 4, he was not a lot much lighter than he currently is and has only been a bit lighter, that’s why he only had to put on a little bit more muscles for reaching “Captain America’s body”.

If you want to find out if there’s a person who is natural or is juicing up, very often all you need to do is just to take a look at whether or not they have undergone any dramatic changes, especially in a short period of time, as I already mentioned this earlier in my review. This is one of the most giveaway sign for a juicer – his gains timeline. A person can’t blow up out of a sudden and add a lot of muscles (especially after plateauing from newbie gains) unless using steroids.

Plus, after plateauing from newbie gains, the further gains are very and very small and hard. For example, if a person is gaining 10 to maximum 15 pounds over a course of nearly a decade, then there are changes that they are natural. But that’s the maximum gain – plus they need to often bulk up. However, if a person is managing to gain like 50 pounds or so in a matter of a few months, unless they were underweight, then they are most likely on gear. Gaining that much in only a few months is possible when you are underweight and never trained in the gym. As soon as you start eating a lot and start training a lot you might get like 50 pounds in a few months. But then you definitely stop.

I was analyzing Chris’ gains timeline and as much as I have noticed, he never undergone any dramatic transformations to my opinion. He does look much jacked compared to how he used to look when he was playing Human Torch, but that’s not a dramatic change, plus, he managed to reach it over a course of many years.

He did gained muscles and has managed to keep his body fat very low for Captain America, however his physique was not extremely changed, at least we can’t say that his physique got so much changed that it is unrecognizable from how it used to look many years ago. He stayed quite the same, but with a bit of more muscles which he managed to gain over years. That’s because Chris has gained approximately 15 or maximum 20 pounds in a period of 6 years or so, and that’s really impressive, something that requires a lot of hard work in and out of the gym, however it does not scream steroids to use. Especially because if he did used steroids then he would most likely add much more muscles than only 15 to 20 pounds.

Adding this much muscle is definitely possible taken in consideration that you: have great genetics (and as much as we can see, Chris does have very good genetics for building muscles); if you workout a lot (I guess there’s no doubt that Chris is working out extremely much); it requires many years and if you have a really good diet which allows you to add on mass (and as much as it looks like that). All in all, Chris Evans managed to look from the guy on the right to guy on the left in the photo below. Very impressive, but nothing impossible.

His Condition

While playing Captain America, Chris was fairly ripped and he is obviously having a pretty low body fat, otherwise he wouldn’t be a Cap. By carefully checking his body, it does looks to me like he is anywhere around 9 to 11 % of body fat, maybe a tad more. He does have abs and vascularity, obviously, however he is looking more bulky than ripped to my opinion. By checking his body, I think he is looking more than a bodybuilder during the off season, that is looking as if he’s trying to bulk up and to stay lean. In the Fantastic 4 movie, he had quite a bit more of a tan and has been quite a little bit more ripped and defined. Then, as much as it looks like, he tried hard to bulk and to get some muscles. And while he does look to have managed to gain some muscles, some of his extra weight difference from Fantastic 4 to Captain America is fat too, and to my opinion that’s something normal.

If we check the other way around and say that he was super shredded, for example around 5% of body fat or even lower, then we would think that maybe he was using some kind of steroid based on burning fat. But we can’t see this. Plus, in order to maintain that type of condition is something very tough to my opinion. That’s why, in order to maintain such a physique like Chris is having that’s something, obviously, very hard, however it is surely much more easier and it is much more than achievable when you are natural. But it is obvious that this is achievable only by training hard and dieting hard. And as much as it looks like, Chris did them with a lot of dedication, so this is the reason why we can’t say that this kind of gain is anything suggesting steroids.

No Signs of Steroid Use

As I earlier said, there is one way to determine if a person is taking steroids – look at their gains timeline. If a person buffs out nearly overnight it is a clear sign of taking steroids. But there are steroid users who do not buff like that overnight, or there are other types of steroids which make you lose weight instead of gaining muscles. That’s why, except for checking their gains timeline, we also need to check steroid symptoms on their bodies. And so, I checked Cap’s body and to be honest, the things are looking very good for him, and that’s because there’s no steroid symptom I could find.

If you have seen the movie then you most likely already know that Captain America is all about setting good morals and being a role model for young children all over the world and with this being said – would he ever put steroids in his body? That’s surely not going to be a good example. Even though we can’t say for sure if he has ever used steroids, by checking his body and trying to find steroid symptoms, it surely doesn’t appear like he ever had used anything.

That’s because, sometimes, it is pretty much obvious that there’s a person who has used steroids, and that’s even if you are not having a single proof. All you need to do is to check their bodies. Don’t believe me? Write steroid bodies in google images. Not everyone appearing there is on steroids, for sure, however I guess you would easily understand which ones are using steroids.

For example, such people are normally extremely big. There are many steroid symptoms except for the fact that they are extremely big (as there are examples of huge guys who are all natural). For example, they may have puffy and swollen nipples, they may be covered in spots, they may be having acne; they are losing hair (baldness); they are sweating a lot; they are having red skin (flushed skin); some of them are having pregnant look; others are having extremely huge deltoids and traps that are so so big that they look as if they are non proportional to the rest of the body. That’s because deltoids and traps are the body’s with most androgen receptors and since steroids are anabolic – they grow the most.

Chris Evans is having absolutely none of those signs, or any other signs that might indicate the use of steroids. He is just looking jacked up, but the way he looks definitely can be achieved naturally!

Conclusion – is Chris Evans Using Steroids or Natural?

With all of this being said, we can answer the question if Chris Evans has used steroids for Captain American or not and by checking all the evidences – there is nothing which could indicate that Chris is using steroids. Since there is no evidence proving him taking steroids, then my verdict is that Chris Evans is actually natural.

Yes, there is no wonder that Chris is a big dude, and he is indeed having an amazing physique that most men can only dream of. Nonetheless, there’s nothing which could indicate he uses steroids. His body looks definitely achievable by a natural guy. A person can get to that level of conditioning all naturally but people should workout a lot for achieving such a level. Plus, the genetic factor comes at play too.

The fact that’s Chris’ body looks natural doesn’t mean that he is natural, but there’s absolutely nothing that indicates he uses steroids, and that’s what means he is natural. That’s really amazing that a natural human can resist the power of Thanos. Let’s hope that in this April our beloved Avengers in front with natural Captain America would beat him up in the best possible way.
